Objective: Objective to grope for the expression of GRIM-19protein incervical squamous cell carcinoma and its relationship with clinicalpathological characteristics and prognosis of patients, and provide referencebasis for individualized treatment for clinical.Methods:29cases of cervical squamous cell carcinoma were selectedfrom the fourth hospital of Hebei Medical University between January1,2008to December31,2008. According to the2009FIGO classification:3cases ofIa1stage, Ia2stage3cases, Ib1in4cases,5cases of Ib2stage, IIa1stage6cases, IIa2stage4cases, IIb4cases. The age of patients ranged from38to64years, average age is48years old. According to the FIGO histological grading:Grade1in0case,2grade13cases,16cases of grade3. The29cervicalcancer patients are as follows:①It was carried by2subtropical high andabove the title of doctor after gynecological examination;②The clinical data(including pathological data) was complete;③The follow-up data wasstandardized and systemic. All included patients were followed up by phone.A follow-up was started from completion of all the treatments, at the end ofDecember31,2013, the last follow-up covering all subjects. Select10patientswith myoma of uterus hysterectomy for patients with non cancerous cervicaltissues during the same period as normal controls (age40-62years, meanage48.5years). Immunohistochemical method was used to detect theexpression of GRIM-19protein in29cases of in cervical squamous cellcancer tissues resected by operation and10cases of normal cervicaltissue.Using Fisher’s exact test and chi square test for non parametric analysis, the expression level of GRIM-19protein in different clinical and pathologicalparameters of cervical squamous cell carcinoma; Kaplan-Meier and log-rank test was used for univariate survival analysis, comparison of the prognosis ofpatients with cervical squamous cell cancer with different expression levels ofGRIM-19protein (negative, weak positive, moderate positive, strong positivegroup); Using the multi factors Cox regression model for the analysis of thefactors affecting the prognosis of patients with cervical squamous cell cancer. Results: Highly expression of GRIM-19in normal cervix tissue, whilethe low expression or no expression in uterine cervical squamous cellcarcinoma tissue, cervical squamous cell carcinoma and normal cervicaltissues compared to the expression of GRIM-19protein have significantdifference (P<0.05), there was statistical significance. Nonparametric analysisshowed the level of GRIM-19protein expression was significantly correlatedwith cervical squamous cell cancer patients with clinical staging, andhistological differentiation(P=0.007、 P=0.026). But the expression ofGRIM-19protein was not correlated with cervical cancer patients’ age, tumordifferentiation, pelvic lymph node metastasis, primary tumor maximumdiameter (P>0.05). A total of7patients died during the follow-up period, totalsurvival time of the patients was8-71months, the median overall survivaltime was65months. The patients of the four groups (the protein expression ofGRIM-19was negative (-), weak positive (+), moderate positive (++), strongpositive (+++) groups) were respectively6,1,13,9cases, univariate survivalanalysis showed that, the total survival time were compared among the4groups, the difference was statistically significant (P=0.001). Cox regressionanalysis showed, expression of GRIM-19protein level(P=0.333) was not anindependent prognostic factor of patients with cervical squamous cell cancer. Conclusion: The expression of GRIM-19protein in cervical squamouscell carcinoma tissues is significantly reduced compared with normal cervicaltissues. The expression of GRIM-19is obviously correlated with clinicalstaging, and histological differentiation. There are significant differences ofoverall survival time in the four groups(GRIM-19negative,weakpositive,moderate positive, strong positive). It is known that the expressionlevel of GRIM-19is a significant prognostic factor in patients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma, but is not an independent prognostic factor inpatients with cervical squamous cell carcinoma.
