Objective:By collecting the data from the previous studies of the relationship between neurotransmitters and major depression, the variation of different TCM syndrome of patients with depression in3different brain neurotransmitters, which are5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), dopamine (DA), and nor-epinephrine (NE) are observed and analyze. To observe the medicine reactions which can identify patients with depression "syndrome" objective indicators of their neurobiology relationship, so as to provide an objective basis for the diagnosis of depression and choose the right antidepressant. Methods:With A case-control study method, the total of400cases of depressed patients were compared with normal subjects. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, the group of the depression were divided into five type of syndromes, the progress symptoms are followed by liver Qi stagnation, liver and spleen deficiency, liver stagnation and phlegm retention, the deficiency of heart and spleen and the disharmony of heart and kidneys. S-E T EEG is used to observe the three kinds of brain neurotransmitters function5-HT, DA, NE in each group of TCM syndromes, which are hyperthyroidism, normal, or low rate. The data result will give the law of pattern in each function, thus the variation based on objective indicators may diagnose depression and choosing an appropriate antidepressant. SPSS17.0statistical software is used for statistical analysis. Results:(l)The proportion of men and women is1:2.6in patients with depression, women were higher than men, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01);(2) Depression in different type of TCM syndrome at average of difference ages is not statistically different (P>0.05);depression mostly happened on middle age patients.(3)The different syndromes percentage of patients with depression were: liver Qi stagnation occupied12.5%, Liver depression and Spleen occupied15.5%, Liver stagnation and phlegm retention occupied23.75%deficiency of Heart and Spleen syndrome occupied13.75%, disharmony of Heart and Kidney occupied34.5%.(4) The5-HT, NE, DA of brain neurotransmitters function have three states, which are low, Normal,at the depressed patients in different TCM syndromes hype.(5)The proportion of the5-HT, NE, DA brain neurotransmitter function at the patient with depression on different TCM syndrome are different.5-HT function in the liver Qi stagnation group, Liver stagnation and phlegm retention group, and in Liver stagnation and phlegm retention group, disharmony of heart and kidney group, differences were statistically significant (P<0.05), as in liver stagnation and phlegm group,5-HT function low rate function is the highest, and in liver Qi stagnation5-HT has the highest hyperthyroidism function; NE in the Liver stagnation and phlegm retention, deficiency of heart and spleen syndrome group, differences were statistically significant (P<0.05), In the deficiency of heart and spleen syndrome and disharmony of heart and kidney group differences were statistically significant (P<0.01), as in deficiency of heart and spleen group, NE has the highest rate of low function, and in the kidneys group NE functional has the highest rate of hyperthyroidism; DA in the liver Qi stagnation and Liver stagnation and phlegm retention group, liver Qi stagnation and disharmony of heart and kidney group differences were statistically significant (P<0.01), as in the Liver stagnation and phlegm retention group, DA has the highest rate of low function, and in the liver Qi stagnation group, DA function in Qi stagnation has the highest rate of hyperthyroidism. Conclusion:Depressions in three kinds of brain neurotransmitters5-HT, NE, DA function are not always in low rate, but there is also in normal and hyperthyroidism state. In each TCM different Syndromes,5-HT,NE and D A have different function distribution.5-HT and DA function have the lowest rate at the Liver stagnation and phlegm retention group. NE function has the lowest rate at the deficiency of Heart and Spleen syndrome group. In hyperthyroidism,5-HT and DA function are most hyperactive at the liver Qi stagnation group. NE functions is most hyperactive.at the disharmony of Heart and Kidney group. Therefore, there of a guidance in order to choose the appropriate antidepressant medicine.
