The Effects Of “Yu Fei Ning” Prescription On The Level Of Serum IL-8and TNF-α In Patients With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease In Stable Phase | Posted on:2015-01-06 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:G S Ke | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2254330428470715 | Subject:Integrative Medicine | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | Objective: To evaluate the effects of the traditional Chinese medicine "Yu Fei Ning"prescription, which has the function of invigorating spleen and benefiting lung, tonifying kidney and holding Qi, resolving phlegm and removing blood stasis, on the syndrome of TCM scores and the level of serum IL-8and TNF-a in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) at stable phase. The clinical efficacy and the possible immunological mechanisms of "Yu Fei Ning"prescription would be investigated. It would provide scientific basis for COPD treatment.Methods:60patients with COPD at the stable phase who met the diagnostic criteria and exclusion criteria were enrolled. The patients were randomly divided into two groups (therapeutic group30cases and control group30cases, respectively). The control group was treated with conventional therapy while the therapeutic group was treated with the traditional Chinese medicine "Yu Fei Ning"prescription combined with conventional therapy. The TCM syndrome scores, the level of serum IL-8,TNF-a before and after2months treatment were recorded in patients with COPD.Results:1. The TCM syndrome scores in both groups decreased significantly after2months treatment compared with baseline [(2.64±1.48)ug/L vs (2.07±1.18)ug/L in control group,P<0.001.;(2.78±1.45)ug/L vs (1.48±0.60)ug/L in therapeutic group,P<0.001.].But it dropped significantly in therapeutic group than that in control group2months later (P=0.035).2. The total effective rate of TCM syndromes for therapeutic group was90%, and it was significantly higher than that in control group which was only63.3%(P<0.001).3. After2months treatment, the levels of serum IL-8of both groups decreased significantly compared with baseline [(2.64±1.48)ug/L vs (2.07±1.18)ug/L in control group, P=0.039;(2.78±1.45)ug/L vs (1.48±0.60)ug/L in therapeutic group P<0.001]. The levels of TNF-a decreased significantly after2months treatment in both groups [(144.50±125.83)ng/L vs (96.80±75.25)ng/L in control group, P=0.047;(135.96±67.27)ng/L vs (57.72±28.47)ng/L in therapeutic group, P<0.001]. The decline of serum IL-8and TNF-α were greater in therapeutic group than those in control group2months later (P=0.045、0.049) Conclusion:1."Yu Fei Ning" prescription could significantly improve TCM clinical symptoms in COPD patients at stable phase.2."Yu Fei Ning"prescription could reduce the level of serum IL-8and TNF-a in stable COPD patients.3."Yu Fei Ning" prescription reducing the level of serum IL-8and TNF-a may be one of the possible mechanisms for its vaule in improve the clinical symptoms of TCM in COPD patients at stable phase.4. There were not obvious adverse reactions after two months of "Yu Fei Ning"prescription treamtment. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Yu Fei Ningprescription, Interleukin-8, Tumor necrosis factor-alpha | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
