Indication For Extraction Treatment With Self-ligating Bracket

Objective: The purpose of this paper was to introduce the self-ligating brackets,that used in extraction case.Materials and methods: A male patient with severe crowding selected fromDalian ortho clinic in2011, who was then12years old. He had a convex profile, onclinical: bilateral Class Ⅰ molar relationship, moderate deepbite(Ⅰ°), increased overjet（6mm), the severe crowding(8.5mm), moderate crowding(4.5mm) in lower arch;proclined upper and lower anterior teeth. The patient chose self-ligating brackets, thefour premolars were extracted, mo more additional anchorage appliances, extract thefour third molars when erupted. Hard and soft tissue changes were observed bycephalometric,models and teeth between before and after treatment.Results: The active treatment period was19months. Comparing the changesbetween pretreatment and posttreatment: Normal overbite and overjet were obtained,bilateral still Class Ⅰmolar relationship; facial balance was improved. Cephalometricanalysis: U1-SN°decreased by3°, U1-NA°decreased by4°, L1-NB°decreased by3.6°,Z angle increased by10°. Total number of appointments during course of treatment iscomparatively less than conventional treatment. The patient and his parents weresatisfied with the result of the treatment.Conclusions: this case uses the self-ligating brackets, extracting of the four firstpremolars, improving teeth alignment, improve the profile, achieved good results,subjective to patient and his parents.
