Background:Atherosclerosis (Atherosclerosis, AS) is considered as a kind of chronicinflammatory diseases which characterized by endothelial dysfunction and vascularremodeling. It has been proved that inflammation plays an important role in coronaryheart disease (CHD) in the occurrence and development in many latest domestic andforeign researches. Galectin-3has been found in macrophages, eosinophils, neutrophils, and the expression of mast cell. As a kind of inflammatory factor,Galectin-3can promot inflammation, and the mechanism was clarified gradually. Ithas been showed that the multifunctional protein involved in the formation ofatherosclerosis in previous study. Recently, one study found that the galectin-3levelvalue on the plasma may be an useful biomarker of atherosclerotic plaque, especiallyunstable atherosclerotic plaque. But the relationship between galectin-3level value onthe plasma and CHD is not clear. Objective:The study aim is to detect the galectin-3level value on the plasma in differentpatients with coronary heart disease and combined with coronary artery angiography(CAG) results, calculate the number of vascular lesions of coronary artery and scoreby Gensini, then assess the narrow scope and degree of coronary artery lesions inpatients with CHD and investigate the relationship between galectin-3level value andthe severity of the disease, unstable plaque and coronary stenosis degree and range, analyze the dependablity of galectin-3and risk factors of coronary heart disease.Ouraim is to find out the significance of prognosis by determining of galectin-3levelvalue on the plasma assessment of severity of coronary heart disease.Method:A total of125inpatient cases which from our hospital during May2012toFebruary2013were selected. According to the clinical history, electrocardiogram, laboratory examinations, the results of coronary angiography, all subjects weredivided into CHD group (n=94) and control group (n=31). According to the plaque stability, all patients were divided into three groups: including group ACS62Cases(AMI33Cases, UAP29Cases), stable angina pectoris (SAP)32Cases, the controlgroup31Cases. According to the result of angiography, all patients were divided intothree groups: the control group (n=31), single vessel disease group (n=53), multiplevessel lesion group (n=41). All patients were scored by Gensini, all patients wereasked in detail about the clinical history and recorded the gender, age and bloodpressure. In the next morning after more than8hours of fasting, all patients weretaken suction venous blood4ml and detected the galectin-3level value on the plasmaby enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (Enzyme Llinked Immunosorbent Assay,ELISA).All experimental data of different groups between patients were expressed asmean±standard deviation, count data were expressed as the number of cases. Eachgroup of data, measurement data uses t-test and analysis of variance analysis, countdata use chi-square test, the correlation between factors use linear correlation analysis,P <0.05was significant difference. Analysis and processing data use SPSSl7.0statistical software.Results:1, Through the analysis of t test showed the galectin-3level value in the plasmaof patients with CHD was obviously higher than that in control group, and with theexacerbation of the disease, the galectin-3level value is also significantly increased;the galectin-3level value in the plasma is SA subgroup <subgroup UA <AMIsubgroups in order, single factor variance analysis indicates that the P <0.05, therewas statistical significance, indicate that the galectin-3level value in the plasma had asignificant relationship with coronary heart disease and the severity of the disease andplaque instability, along with the exacerbation of the disease, the galectin-3levelvalue is corresponding also increased.2, The galectin-3level value in the plasma in the value of multi-vessel diseasegroup and single vessel disease group were significantly higher than those in thecontrol group (P <0.05), the P-value of the galectin-3level value between singlevessel lesion group and multiple vessel disease group was0.479(P>0.05), isexpressed that the galectin-3level value in the plasma in CHD patients had no obvious causality relationship with the scope of the of coronary stenosis.Spearmancorrelation analysis showed that the galectin-3level value in the plasma in patientswith CHD had no significant correlation with Gensini score (P>0.05). It is expressedthat the galectin-3level value in the plasma in CHD patients value had no significantcorrelation with the degree of coronary stenosis.3, The Logestic regression analysis showed that the risk for ACS in patients withhigh galectin-3level value is2.49times normal patients.4, Spearman correlation analysis showed that the galectin-3level value in theplasma in patients with CHD had obvious correlation with age, FPG, HCY and UA (P<0.05), but had no significant correlation with TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C etal (P>0.05). In control group, the galectin-3level value had no significant correlation withlood pressure (systolic and diastolic), gender, age, FPG, HCY, TC, TG, HDL-C,LDL-C and other factors (P>0.05).5, Variance analysis showed that the galectin-3level value in non-CHD+non-diabetic group, CHD+non-diabetic group, CHD+in-diabetic group weresignificantly different between the three groups (P <0.05); the two-two groupscomparison indicated that the galectin-3level in CHD+non-diabetic group andCHD+in-diabetic group were significantly higher than that in non-CHD+non-diabetic group (P <0.05), the galectin-3level value have no significantdifference (P>0.05) between CHD+non-diabetic group and CHD+in-diabeticgroup.6, Variance analysis showed that the galectin-3level value in non-CHD+non-heart failure group, CHD+non-heart failure group, CHD+heart failure group weresignificantly different between the three groups (P <0.05); the two-two groupscomparison indicated that the galectin-3level in CHD+non-heart failure group andCHD+heart failure group were significantly higher than that in non-CHD+non-heartfailure group (P <0.05), the galectin-3level value have no significant difference (P>0.05) between CHD+non-heart failure group and CHD+heart failure group. Conclusion: 1,The galectin-3level value in the plasma of patients with CHD are significantlyhigher than control group, and with the exacerbation of the disease, the galectin-3level value is significantly increased too;2, The galectin-3level value in the plasma of patients with CHD can be reactseverity of pathogenetic condition and plaque instability, it suggest the galectin-3level value in the plasma may be a biochemical index to judge ACS risk and severityin CHD patient;3, The galectin-3level value in the plasma of CHD patients has no obviouscausal relationship with the range and degree of coronary artery stenosis;...
