Objective: To investigate the difference of serum calcium before andafter correction, its influencing factors and its association with clinicalfeatures of multiple myeloma (MM) in the newly diagnosed patients. Methods: Medical history, laboratory and imaging data of65patientsat first diagnosis of MM in our hospital in the late21months were analyzedretrospectively. All of the serum calcium level are corrected by formula ofserum albumin.Comparison of the difference of the positive rate of serumbefore and after correction of abnormal. Correlation with clinical featuresof the blood calcium level after correction analysis, positive rate isrelatively high calcium group and non high calcium groups of patients withclinical features. Analysis of A, B two groups before and after the bloodcalcium level difference correction. Results: The frequency of hypercalcaemia measured byalbumin-corrected serum calcium is significantly higher. The correctedserum calcium level and hyperglobulinemia, hyperuricemia, myeloma bonedisease had linear correlation (P<0.05).The frequency of hyperglobulinemia, renal dysfunction myeloma bone disease inhypercalcaemia is significantly higher than hypocalcaemia (P<0.05).Differences in A,B group of calcium concentration significantly (P<0.05)after correction. Conclusion: The albumin-corrected serum calcium of MM is highlycorresponding to the real level of serum calcium related to severity of MMcondition. The higher level of serum calcium is,the higher probability ofrenal dysfunction, hyperuricemia, myeloma bone disease, hyperglobulinemiais.
