Study On The Combination Of Internal And External Treatment Of Zhongjing And Its Clinical Significance

Shanghan Zabing Lun(Treatise on Exogenous Febrile and Miscellaneous Diseases) is one of the classic medicinal literatures, which provides basis for syndrome differentiation and treatment of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). The abundant therapies compiled are also practical, including high theoretical principles, detailed implementations and flexible applications. In the treatments, it is orderly connected from therapies to medicinal applications, in which clinical care is emphasized, acupuncture and diet therapies are also contained besides Chinese materia medica, as well as internal treatment, external treatment and the combination of the two. The combination of the two is the organic combination of internal and external treatment and is flexibly applied in clinic based on the advantages and disadvantages of the two according to the patients’ conditions and pathogenic essences in a certain stage under the guidance of syndrome differentiation and treatment.This paper aims at clarifying the discuss on therapeutic treatments and proclaiming the comprehensive therapies and applications on dermatosis by collecting the theories and practices of the combination of internal and external treatments in Shanghan Zabing Lun(Treatise on Exogenous Febrile and Miscellaneous Diseases). The contents are as follows:The first part is to interpret the theory of internal treatment, external treatment and the combination of the two, especially the mechanism and clinical significance of the combination of the two, which are introduced by the eight principles, administrative methods and the specific application respectively.The second part is to list some clinical cases selected from dermatosis such as urticaria and acne, ect. to verify the vast prospects and definite effects of the combination of internal and external treatments in treating dermatosis, especially the difficult ones.Dermatosis is clinically common and multiple with various kinds, different and chronic manifestations. The concept of native medicine on dermatosis is from the organic wholeness and the influence of multiple causes on human body including internal and external factors. The combination of the internal and external treatments has specific advantages on dermatosis in that Chinese medicine in effective in treating dermatosis with various therapies and medicinal preparations. Zhongjing emphasized highly on the organic combination of internal and external treatments, influencing the development of comprehensive therapies in later generations. The theoretical principles and clinical experiences contained are still significant and practical for modern medicine.
