Object:Emotional factors play a very important role in the pathogenesis of IBS-D. which in turn has a negative impact on patients1emotions. And a vicious cycle begins, which makes the clinical treatment of IBS-D more difficult. Diseases caused by emotional factors are most closely associated with heart, liver and spleen. This research utilizes the methods of syndrome differentiation from traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) combined with psychological scale from Western medicine, to discuss the relationship between TCM syndrome of IBS-D patients and psychological characteristics such as depression and anxiety. It provides the foundation for the use of liver-regulating therapy in treatment of IBS-D.Method:230cases of IBS-D selected in accordance with diagnosis standards and excluded standards, fill in the Zung self-rating depression scale(SDS). self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),general questionnaires about related symptoms and gastroscopic observation table. The collected data is used to establish a database for statistical analysis.Findings:This research obtains some results through statistical analysis of230patients with IBS-D.1. The relationship between IBS-D patients in General condition (gender, age, adverse factors of life, education, occupation, income, duration of disease) and characteristics of depression and anxiety in patients:gender, age, adverse factors of life and income all affect the IBS-D patients’psychological status including depression and anxiety. We have learned that the female IBS-D patients have worse mentation than the males, and suffer from more serious depression and anxiety. Youngsters and Middle aged people have the higher SDS&SAS integral than the old ones. Patients affected by unhealthy living factors(including family relationship, society adaptation, mental stimulation, family income, working intensity and pressure) have a more obvious condition of depression and anxiety. Depression and anxiety are relatively apparent when the patients have low income.2. The relationship between syndromes of TCM in IBS-D patients with mental characteristics of depression and anxiety:SDS and SAS integrals of IBS-D patients arc higher than those of ordinary people. Some patients had significant psychological state including depression and anxiety. The SDS and SAS integrals of ganyupixu group are higher than the other two groups. The differences of SDS and SAS integrals between the group of ganyupixu and the other two groups are significant (P<0.05), which is statistically significant. The differences between other groups are of no statistical significance.Conclusion:IBS-D patients had significant psychological state of depression and anxiety which are affected by gender, age, adverse factors of life, income, etc. and are not related to SDS&SAS integrals of gastroscopic manifestations, pathology organization classification and HP infection.IBS-D is affected by emotion, which is objective, especially in patients with ganyupixu syndrome. Depression and anxiety are the main manifestations of the emotional effects in this disease.
