Clinical Features Of Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors In33Cases

Objective: To analyze the clinical features of gastrointestinal stromaltumors (GIST), in order to investigate the useful evidence for diagnosis,make a progress in early-diagnosis and decrease the misdiagnosed rate.Method：To Analyze the clinical data of33cases of GIST which haveregistered as members of GIPAP (Glivec International Patient AssistanceProgram).Results：The group of33patients with stromal tumors are based on15male-patients and18female-patients，ratio of0.83:1. The median age ofonset is53. GIST can be find more in stomach (48.5%). More diagnosis isconfirmed by physical examination (33.3%). Clinical manifestations arenot so special, include gastrointestinal bleeding (8cases,24.2%),abdominal symptom (7cases,21.2%), abdominal mass (5cases,15.2%),and others (2cases6.1%).The chi-square test confirmed that the positiverate of CD117(93.94%), DOG-1(100%) and CD34(78.79%) is absolutelyhigh in Immunohistochemistry, and3items have no statistically significant difference but different from other items. The main style of shape in grossspecimen are round (39.29%) or oval (39.29%), section of off-white(50.00%) or off-white-brown (25.00%). Hemorrhagic necrosis can befound in the middle of the tumor specimen; median-diameter is6.0cm, thecorrelation analysis confirmed that diameter and hemorrhagic necrosis areassociated. Investigations are not so useful in distinguishing GIST withother gastrointestinal cancers, but still have a certain value.Conclusion: The clinical features of GIST which can be found in thiscase-group have many similar characteristics that have been confirmed bysome researches. GIST can be ignored because of the lack of clinicalmanifestations. To use the findings of investigation rationally, makepathological diagnosis a higher status, increase the intensify of advocacywork and make patients improve the vigilance of GIST can make aprogress in early diagnosis or decrease the misdiagnosed rate.
