Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of Chronic Prostatitis by the therapy ofAcupuncture, and compare the difference of therapeutic efficacy between “Sanyin” acupointtherapy and conventional acupoint therapy. Also, use Infrared Thermal Imaging technology todiscuss the moderating effect on unnormal Infrared Thermogram of CP patients byacupuncture at “Sanyin” acupoint. Form the supplementary diagnostic method of CP by thechanges of its unnormal Infrared Thermogram, in order to supply some important evidencesfor diagnose and treatment method.Methods:50Chronic Prostatitis (CP) Patients were randomly divided into two groups,Sanyin Acupoint Group (SAG) and Regular Acupoint Group (RAG). Patients in SAG wereacupunctured with “Sanyin” acupoints and in RAG were acupunctured with regular acupoints.Besides this, other points also have been used in the two groups that depend on the differentsymptoms. Every patient would have take3treatment phase, in total of30days. CPSI scoresof each patient before and after treatment were used to calculate the symptom severity rate, symptom remission rate and total effective rate in two groups. To evaluate the difference ofcurative effect in two groups by compared between groups. Recorded the InfraredThermogram of each patient and compared with healthy male volunteers in order to exploresome specific indications of CP, and also to discus the acupuncture efficacy of temperature.By using of the Statistic correlation method to analyze the specific temperature indicator hopeto supply an assistant diagnose way and curative effect evaluation method.Result:CPSI SCORES: The pretherapy CPSI scores of each patient has an extremely significantdifference when compared with post-treatment in each group (P<0.01). The before and afterCPSI scores of each patient have no difference when compare between groups (P>0.05). Butthe difference of before and after CPSI have an extremely significant difference whencompared between groups (P<0.01). In symptoms remission rate, SAG was71.2%, RAG was56.3%, obviously, patient in SAG groups have a higher rate than RAG groups. The totaleffective rate has an extremely significant difference when compared between two groups(P<0.01). INFRARED THERMOGRAM: When compared with the healthy male in same agephase, the Infrared Thermogram in Hypogastrium of CP had abnormal temperature area. There were some low temperature areas that appeared in different shapes and bilateralsymmetry in Hypogastrium. In WEI-meridians, Pi-meridians and Ren-meridians had a highoccurrence rate. The difference of temperature in Hypogastrium had increased. The lowtemperature scale in Pubis and Scrotum had decreased. Also, there some abnormaltemperature spots in urethral orifice. Temperature in Groin was not bilateral symmetry. Theanalysis of temperature indicates that compare with healthy male, the changes of averagetemperature in Hypogastrium of CP patient have an extremely significant difference (P<0.01).Also, the H, P, S, G values have an extremely significant difference (P<0.01). But the changesof average temperature in Pubis, Scrotum and Groin have no significant difference (P>0.05).CORRELATION: The average temperatures in Hypogastrium of CP patient have anegative correlation with the CPSI scores itself (P<0.01), the correlation index was-0.519.The average temperatures in Scrotum of CP patient have a positive correlation with the CPSIscores itself (P<0.01), the correlation index was0.446. Also, besides the H value, P, S, Gvalues have different degree correlations (P<0.01), among them, the S value has a high degreenegative correlation, the correlation index was-0.898. Using S value to evaluate the clinicefficacy will have the same outcomes by CPSI scores. Conclusions: When compared with regular acupoints treatment method, Sanyinacupoints treatment method has a high rate in clinical symptom remission and total efficacy. Itis deserved to clinical promotion. There are some specific temperature features in InfraredThermogram of CP patient. We can use these specific features as an assistant diagnose way, indicate some acupoints that we need, and also to evaluate the severity of CP and curativeeffect. Taking use of Infrared Thermal Imaging Technique to diagnose and evaluate of CP is asimple, intuitive, convenience and accurate way.
