Body donation is the only legal way for organs transplantation and the same bodytissue material which plays an irreplaceable role in clinical treatments and anatomyteaching. The donated bodies and organs are of serious shortage in our country, and itsactual quantity is far lower than developed countries. In The United States and otherwestern countries, social work methods have played an important role in organtransplantation, esp. in organ donation registration, community dissemination. Incontrast, research on how to promote body donation from social work perspectives hasnot been started yet in China. To filling the blank, as well as accumulating practicalexperience, the study is carried out to disseminate body donation in community withthe situation-embedded group work, trying to find out whether group work methodscan promote citizen’s donation intention effectively. The research is a comparative study in30residents in Chang’an Community,Nanchang city. Using the paired sample method to classify this30members equallyinto2groups: control group and experiment group. The experiment group membersreceive the situation-embedded group work. During the research, posters and leafletson body donation are dismissed in the whole community, so everyone has an equalchance of reading them. Questionnaires are used to assess those30study objects’intention of body donation before and after conducting group work. In thequestionnaire, citizens’ intention is set into4dimensions, which respectively arecognition, affectional judgment, incentive and behavior preference. The studydetermines the effect of group work by comparing data collecting from thequestionnaires of both groups. The experimental result shows:1.Before the treatment, the score of2groupsshows no significant difference, but after the score shows a significant one.2. After the treatment, the score of control group has no significant difference. In contrast, thescore of experiment group has a significant one.3. The margin of scores on incentivehas an significant impact on the margin on behavior preference in experiment group.Following conclusions can be drawn from this study:1. Group work method canimprove citizens’ cognition on body donation.2. Group work can reform citizens’affectional judgment on body donation.3. Group work can increase their incentive.4.Group work can promote their behavior preference.5. Posters and leaflets show nosignificant impact on group members’ intention.6.The increase of incentive has apositive and significant impact on the increase of behavior preference. The paper also discusses some other relative questions,e.g, the advantage anddisadvantage of group work on dissemination of body donation in communities, howto develop the implication of group work method on body donation dissemination andhow other factors affect the result of group work.
