Objective: To observe the clinical effects and safety of TianLongJieYu Decoction in thetreatment of pseudobulbar palsy dysphagia, and to dicussed its mechanism of treatment, andto provide a simple, practical and beneficial application therapy for clinical patients.Methods:57cases of patients with cerebral hemorrhage who were hospitalized at theDepartment of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine and Emergency Department ofthe Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University from December2012to December2013wereselected. The patients were randomized into the treatment group and the control group by,30patients in the treatment group,27patients in the control group. Aspects of age, gender, courseof disease, clinical manifestation were not significantly different between the groups bystatistical test (P>0.05), which were comparable. Both groups adopted conventional Westernmedical treatment as the basic therapy. The control group was given basic treatment; thetreatment group received basic treatment plus oral administration of200ml of Tianlong JieyuDecoction (Rhizoma Gastrodiae, Pberetima, Rhizoma Acori, Radix Cureumae, RadixPolygalae, Radix Platycodi, Semen Oroxyli, etc.) twice per day. After observation for4weeks,clinical efficacy was statistically analyzed. WaTian’ drinking water test score was observedbefore and after the treatment, throat structure uplift magnitude and throat structurepreposition distance ratio (Y/X) were measured and their safety indices including fourcoagulation tests (prothrombin time PT, fibrinogen FB, activated partial thromboplastin timeAPTT, thrombin time TT), blood cell analysis (red blood cell count, white blood cell count, hemoglobin, platelet count), and liver and kidney function (alanine aminotransferase ALT,blood urea nitrogen BUN, creatinine Cr) were compared.Results:(1) WaTian’ drinking water test was adopted as the evaluation standards ofswallowing disorders:The total effective rate was96.7%in the treatment group, and70.4%inthe control group, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05).(2) Measurement of throat structure uplift magnitude and throat structure prepositiondistance ratio (Y/X): After treatment, the Y/X value decreased in both the treatment group andthe control group compared with before treatment, and the differences were statisticallysignificant, the difference value before and after treatment in the treatment group decreasedmarkedly compared with the control group, and the difference between the two groups wasalso statistically significant (P<0.05) (3) Safety indices: During the clinical observation, no clear adverse reactions or toxic, side effects appeared in the treatment and control groups, and no drug-related abnormalitiesoccurred in the laboratory test results (four coagulation tests, liver and kidney function, bloodcell analysis) of the two groups before and after treatment. Conclusion: The combination of conventional Western medicine and Tianlong JieyuDecoction can more effectively improve the clinical symptoms of pseudobulbar palsydysphagia after cerebral hemorrhage, meanwhile, the safety testing indicated that the drugwas safe, without toxic or side effects, which has wide prospects for clinical application.
