Objective: to investigate the association of carotid artery intima-media thicknesswith ambulatory arterial stiffness index(AASI)and other blood pressure monitoringderiveds in elderly patients with hypertension.Methods:195cases hospitalized fromAugust2011to August2012at the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang MedicalUniversity, and all the people more than60years of age meet the inclusion criteria ofpatients with essential hypertension,80cases of simple hypertension and normal carotidartery intima-media thickness (group A),45cases of the men in this group,35cases ofwomen;hypertension and the thick carotid artery intima-media thickness group,115cases(group B),65cases were male and female50cases.The selected patients underwent24hambulatory blood pressure and carotid artery intima-media thickness measurement.Collect characteristics of ABPM24hours and AASI was calculated as1minus regressionslope of diastolic on systolic blood pressure values.and pearson correlation was employedto analyze patients with thick carotid artery intima-media thickness.Results:1. Comparedwith the group of simple hypertension with normal carotid artery intima-mediathickness,theAASI,24h SBP,24h PP,d SBP,d PP,n SBPand n PP were significantly higherin elderly essential hypertension combined with thick carotid artery intima-mediathickness group, difference have obvious statistical significance (P <0.01);2.AASI waspositively correlated with IMT (p <0.01),24SBP (p <0.01),24PP (p <0.05),dSBP (p <0.05),dPP (p <0.01),nSBP (p <0.05),nPP (p <0.05) in elderly hypertensive patients withthick carotid artery intima-media thickness(r=0.213p <0.01).Conclusion:1.The AASIwas correlated with carotid endarterectomy damage degree in elderly patients withessential hypertension, and can be used as the evaluation index of atherosclerosis degree.2. The increases of AASI is associated with SBP and PP in24h,day-time and night-time inelderly patients with essential hypertension.
