Objective: To explore the effect of early surgical intervention inpediatric spinal tuberculosis by establishing the unmatured rabbit spinetuberculosis model and observing the unmatureds rabbit growth anddevelopment of bone integration in the context after posterior spinalfixation for the treatment of spinal tuberculosis. Methods: The spinal tuberculosis model was builded by implantingtuberculosis standard strain H37Rv to unmatured rabbit L4vertebral body.25unmatured rabbits were randomly divided into5groups. A group is theblank control group, B group only underwent lumbar tuberculosis molding, without any intervention therapy; C group, anti tuberculosis group; Dgroup, anti-tuberculosis+debridement group; E group, anti-tuberculosis+debridement+internal fixation. The5groups were measured by lumbarspine CT, L3-L5canal area, the transverse diameter of spinal canal, vertebral sagittal diameter of the spinal canal, transverse diameter ofvertebral body, vertebral height, diameter and L1-L7length of vertebralcolumn before intervention. D, E groups were surgical intervention.5groups were underwent lumbar X-ray and CT after4w,8w and12w, tounderstand the bone fusion and spine development situation and todetermine the spinal stability and treatment effect of spinaltuberculosis.Results:4w,8w,12w X-ray and CT measurements, spinal area, transversediameter of the spinal canal, sagittal diameter, transverse diameter of the vertebral body, the vertebral sagittal diameter: B, C, D, E groupcompared with A group, there was a significant difference (P <0.05), Agroup is better than B, C, D, E group; C, D, E group there was a significantdifference compared with B group (P <0.05), E group is better than B, C,D group. Length of L1-L7of each group was no significant difference (P>0.05). B, C, D, E group L3, L4, L5vertebral body height was no significantdifference (P>0.05). E group L4vertebral body height is less than L3,L5.Conclusion:1. Vertebral drilling before implanted tuberculosis can create a modelof the unmatured rabbit spinal tuberculosis.2. On the basis of the law of anti-TB treatment unmatured rabbit lumbartuberculosis, the efficacy of early surgical intervention is superiorto conservative treatment. Though resulting in reduced of thevertebral body height after the internal fixation of the spine, theimpact of spinal overall development is limited.
