Objective:To evaluate the change of the clinical features as well as the of management of complete hydatidiform mole.Materials and methods:338cases of complete hydatidiform mole treated in Women’s Hospital, School of Medicine of Zhejiang University, during2000-2010were evaluated retrospectively and a comparison was made to historic data (1972~1976) using x2and t test. Results:The mean age of the women with molar pregnancies was29years, the mean gestational age at initial diagnosis was77days (11weeks).67cases (19.8%) were asymptomatic, the majority (256cases,75.7%) had symptoms of vaginal bleeding and62cases (18.7%) had a uterus larger than date, none of the women had maternal hypertension,1case (0.3%) had hyperemesis,53(15.7%) cases combined with theca lutein cysts. Compared to the historic data, molar pregnancy was diagnosed earlier, the symptoms tend to be milder, more cases were asymptomatic, fewer cases had a uterus larger than date, incidence of vaginal bleeding and maternal hypertension were statistically lower, fewer cases received hysterectomy and prophylactic chemotherapy (p<0.01).Conclusions:The ability to diagnose hydatidiform mole early in a pregnancy had improved greatly, The symptoms at time of presentation, however, tend to be milder. So the management should change accordingly.
