Malignant tumours of maxillary sinus are relatively rare neoplasms, with an incidence representing a small percentage (0.2-0.5%) of human malignant tu-mours, only1.5-3.0%of all head and neck malignant neoplasms, but counting for50-80%of tumours in the paranasal sinuses. The annual incidence is less than1per100000with a descending trend. Because of the relatively small inci-dence, wide histological variability, complicated anatomy and advanced lesions, it is still controversial about its treatment strategies. We report4cases of malignant tumours of maxillary sinus, review the associated literatures and summarize the pathogenesis, clinical features, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis to improve the knowledge on the disease. |
