Objective: To compare the contraction activities of small artery induced by KCl and PE betweenspontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and wistar rats, and to investigate the effects of gap junction on thevascular contraction activities.Methods: Pressure myograph was used to observe the influences of KCl and PE on the vascularcontraction activities, and the differences after applying2-APB (gap junction blockers) in acute separatedsmall artery of wistar rats and SHR.Results:(1) KCl and PE induced concentration-dependently contraction reactions, and the contractionamplitudes induced by KCl and PE was higher in SHR than wistar rats respectively, there was significantdifference (P <0.05). After application2-APB (100μmol/L), the contraction amplitudes of mesentericartery (MA) induced by KCl and PE was obviously suppressed respectively, and more significantly inSHR.(2) KCl induced concentration-dependently contraction reactions, and the contraction amplitudesinduced by KCl was higher in SHR than wistar rats respectively, there was significant difference (P <0.05).After application2-APB (100μmol/L), the contraction amplitudes of basilar artery(BA)induced by KClwas obviously suppressed respectively.Conclusions: The contraction reactions of mesenteric artery in SHR are higher than in wistar rats throughincreasing the gap junction communication among smooth muscle cells of MA in SHR.. The contractionreactions of basilar artery in SHR are smaller than in wistar rats, the gap junction communication amongsmooth muscle cells of different small artery vessels are difference.
