Objective Via compare the clinical efficacy, operative time, postoperative pain, surgery costs of TEP and Lichtenstein surgery during hernia repair, which in hernia treatment to guide the choice of these two types of hernia repair. Methods During December2010to April2012,60cases of patients with type Ⅰ-Ⅲ-unilateral inguinal hernia from Fu yang People’s Hospital were selected, they were divided into TEP group and Lichtenstein group randomly, all of the cases using the standard surgical methods. observing the operative time, pain duration, hospitalization time, the total hospital costs, and post-operative complications in the two group. Postoperative complications observed scrotal effusion, urinary retention, wound pain, subcutaneous hematoma, foreign body sensation, postoperative recurrence et al.Results The TEP group had shorter hospitalization time, longer operative time, higher total hospital costs than the Lichtenstein group, and the consequence showed statistically significant(P<0.001) between the two group. The complications of the scrotum effusion, urinary retention, wound pain, subcutaneous hematoma, foreign body sensation in the TEP group were lower than in the Lichtenstein group, but there was no one had the subcutaneous hematoma, postoperative recurrence in both of the two group. Conclusion TEP is a new kind of hernia repair, compared with the Lichtenstein method, it had obvious advantages in postoperative pain and length of hospital stay, surgery can be used as an alternative.
