ObjectiveTo examine the level of serum25(OH)D3,1,25(OH)2D3in patients of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and healthy control group, and make analyses on the relationships between the clinical statistics and25(OH)D3,1,25(OH)2D3, moreover, the correlations between25(OH)D3and immunological indexs in the lab, and explore the role of vitamin D in immune system.MethodsSerum samples were obtained from33patients with SLE and30healthy volunteers, and then serum vitamin D were detected using ELISA. All the patients were recruited at General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University from October,2011to June,2012, using Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) to examine the level of25(OH)D3and1,25(OH)2D3. Then the clinical and laboratory statistics were investigated. Then we assessed the activity of SLE using SLE Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI), and made an analysis on the relationships between vitamin D and SLEDAI. The clinical data included gender, age, SLEDAI, blood routine test,24-hours urinary protein quantity, immunoglobulin G (IgG), complement3(C3), complement4(C4), anti-double-stranded DNA antibody. We made analyses using SPSS17.0statistics software.Results1. Compared with control group, experimental group has a lower level of25(OH)D3(P=0.03), and also a lower level of1,25(OH)2D3(P=0.02).2. There is a negative correlation between25(OH)D3and SLEDAI(r=-0.64,P<0.001). But there is no relationship between the level of1,25(OH)2D3and SLEDAI.3. There is a negative relevant between the level of25(OH)D3and the level of anti-dsDNA antibody(r=-0.615, P<0.001), there is no relationship between1,25(OH)2D3and anti-dsDNA antibody.4. There is a positive relationship between the level of25(OH)D3and the level of C3(r=0.56,P=0.001), a negative correlation between the level of24-hours urinary protein quantity and25(OH)D3(r=-0.398, P=0.001), and a negative correlation between the level of ANA(r=-0.382,P=0.031), but there is no relationship between the level of25(OH)D3and the level of C4. There is a positive relationship between the level of25(OH)D3and the level of IgQ (r=0.546,P=0.001). There are no significant relationships between the level of1,25(OH)2D3and the level of immunoglobulin, the level of ANA, the level of complement3, the level of complement4and proteinuria/24h.Conclusions1. Compared with control group, experimental group has a lower level of25(OH)D3and1,25(OH)2D3. which suggests vitamin may play an important role in participating in mechanism of SLE. However, it needs to be studied in future.2. There are negative relationships among25(OH)D3and SLEDAI, complement3, ANA, and proteinuria/24h.25(OH)D3may be an important indicator in the future evaluating the activity of SLE,.3. Although1,25(OH)2D3is lower in experimental group, it is not associated with SLEDAI, anti-dsDNA antibody, complement, and ANA, IgG. So it is not prober to evaluate the activity of SLE.
