Objective:To explore if the new treatment of Lund concept could reduce the mortality of patients after brain surgery. Methods:This study included68severe brain injury cases whose GCS score were between3and8, of which30patients were provided by Lund hypothesis and the other38patients were cared by the conventional treatment in controling intracranial pressure. Furthermore, following surgery Lund group had been continually monitored intracranial pressure and cerebral perfusion pressure last5days.Results:The28-day mortality of Lund group was30.0%, while the control group was57.9%. The mortality of two groups had significantly statistical difference (P<0.05). The amount of mannitol was markedly less in Lund group than in the control group (P<0.01).In Lund group, the incidence that ICP exceeded25mmHg or35mmHg or CPP dropped50mmHg took place in the deaths was greater than that happened in the survival (P<0.05)Conclusion:It could be effective to reduce postoperative brain mortality with Lund concept.
