Objective: To evaluate the relationship between the incidence of low birthweight(LBW) and maternal hyperthyroidism with propylthiouracil (PTU),and toemphasize the hyperthyroidism treatment on the outcome of pregnancy.Methods: The clinical data of55cases of pregnant women withhyperthyroidism in Jan.2002~Sep.2011from the First Affiliated Hospital ofDalian Medical University were analyzed retrospectively,and the same period55patients randomly selected normal pregnancy as control group.According to thecontrol of hyperthyroidism and propylthiouracil (PTU) taken during the three trimestersof pregnancy, subjects were divided into different groups. Analysis of the birthweight and bilirubin value of newborn babies were down between the un-controlledgroup and controlled group.Results:1.The average birth weight of newborn in mothers’ disease un-controlledgroup is lower than the normal pregnant group and mothers’ disease controlled group;2.The average birth weight of newborn whose mothers’ disease controlled until the thirdtrimester is lower than the groups whose mothers’ disease controlled before that;3.Thehead chest average bilirubin value of the newborn whose mothers’ disease un-controlledis higher than the controlled group.Conclusion: The hyperthyroidism with pregnancy should be diagnosed andtreated systematically as early as we can. So that the incidence of neonatal LBW and bediagnosed and treated.
