ObjectiveThe wave front aberration theory has received increasingly extensive attention. Not only can the aberrometer survey the higher order aberration, but also survey the lower order aberration. At the present time, the research of lower order aberration in myopia patients measured with aberrometer is less. With the comparison of different refraction methods, this study is to investigate the accuracy of Zywave aberrometer, and to evaluate the effect of Zywave aberrometer in measuring refraction before laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK), and to find out the theory for the Zywave aberrometer in measuring lower order aberration.MethodsFrom June2011to August2011,46cases84eyes with refractive error received preoperative examination in the excimer laser treatment center of our hospital. We analyzed and compared the sphere, cylinder and spherical equivalent refractions before laser in situ keratomileusis with Zywave aberrometer and common refraction methods, and the data were analyzed by statistic software. The data were analyzed by SPSS17.0statistical software with paired-t test, P<0.05is considered as the standard of significant difference.Results1. In low myopia group, the differences of the sphere and spherical equivalent refractions measured by auto-refraction, retinoscopy and Zywave aberrometer were statistically significant. The sphere, cylinder and spherical equivalent refractions measured by comprehensive refractometer, manifest refraction and Zywave aberrometer had no statistical difference.2. In moderate myopia group, the cylinder refractions measured by auto-refraction, comprehensive refractometer, manifest refraction, retinoscopy and Zywave aberrometer were statistically significant, the sphere and spherical equivalent refractions had no statistical difference.3. In high myopia group, the sphere and spherical equivalent refractions measured by these methods had no statistical difference, the differences of the cylinder refractions data were statistically significant.Conclusions1. In low myopia group, the refractions data measured by the Zywave aberrometer are similar to those data measured by comprehensive refractometer.2. In moderate and high myopia group, the cylinder refractions measured by auto-refraction can be as a complement to the Zywave aberrometer.
