Objective To analyze the expression of T-bet in gastric carcinoma tissues and the impact on the survival time of patients. Methods The number of T-bet positive lymphocyte in the surgical specimens of gastric cancer tissues was detected by using immunohistochemistry in152patients. The time of disease-free survival and overall survival were observed. Results The T-bet expression level was significantly correlated with tumor size (t=2.35, P=0.0202), invasion depth (t=2.50, P=0.0138) and UICC stage (t=3.40, P=0.0196). Along with the increase of UICC stage, the number of T-bet positive lymphocyte has a descendent trend. The median time of disease-free survival and overall survival were28months and37months. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis demonstrated that the disease-free survival as well as the overall survival for the group with the higher density of T-bet positive lymphocyte was significantly better than the group with lower T-bet positive lymphocyte (χ2=3.91, P=0.0480and χ2=4.00, P=0.0455, respectively). COX multivariate analysis showed that, after regulating age, sex, tumor location, depth of invasion, tumor size and UICC stage, the high infiltration group of T-bet positive lymphocyte had the trend of recurrence (HR=0.56,95%CI=0.32-0.98, P=0.043) and death (HR=0.55,95%CI=0.30~0.99, P=0.047) risk reduction in gastric cancer patients, the difference was statistically significance. Conclusion The number of T-bet positive lymphocyte in gastric carcinoma was positively correlated with patient’s survival, which supports the notion that the T-bet was a positive regulator, and played an important role in tumor micro environment. |
