Background: After Ritossa reported the heat shock response for the first time in1962, Tissieres confirmed that there was a special protein named Heat-shock protein(HSP) transcripted in the heat shock response with the autoradiography in1974. HSPs were highly conservative peptides of protein molecules and widely distributed in the prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, they had important physiological functions. High temperature, infection, hypoxia, UV irradiation could induce cells to synthesize Hsp. The classification criteria of the protein has not been unified so far. According to the degree of homology and the molecular size for the heat shock proteins, they were divided into HSP110, HSP90, HSP70, medium molecular weight of HSP and low molecular weight of HSP. HSP70was the most abundant and conservative HSP. In recent years, a growing number of studies have shown that HSP70played an important role in immune and inflammatory processes of bronchial asthma, but the exact mechanism was unknown and further research was still needed. In addition, the application of HSP70in tumor is gradually improved. The heat shock protein tumor vaccine has entered Phase Ⅲ clinical trials so far, in asthma,there has had no correlational studies obroad currently, but Cheng Zhengyan et. al built HSP70vaccine research in animals experiment in China.Objective: To provide references for the clinical study, we reviewed the biological function and the application of HSP70and the research status of which in bronchial asthma.Methods:To retrieve the literature of the heat shock protein70related to bronchial asthma through Wanfang, Weipu and Pubmed database.Results:25literatures in English,9literatures in Chinese.Conclusion:1.HSP70may be involved in the pathogenesis of asthma and the occurrence and development of inflammation in asthma.2. HSP70normally plays a protective function in orgnism, but also has the opposite effect.3. As amolecular chaperone, to construct fusion proteins or directly connected with other proteins, HSP70played the role of Immunoadjuvant and it can be significantly increased protein vaccine efficacy in the treatment of asthma.4. NF-κB has been a target for the treatment of asthma, it is a hot topic in the study of asthma treatment now, so it is very important to develop more new drugs aim at HSP70or its role in the NF-κB signal transduction pathway with a remarkable clinical significance.
