Objective:To investigate the early clinical of Rotating-Platform total knee system inthe total knee arthroplasty,And we try to find the result in different age groups by thisapproach. Methods: The38patients (45knees) who accepted primary total knee arthroplasty(TKA) with Rotating-Platform total knee system between June2008and June2012were followed-up. The patients include10males and28females, aged from21to81years old, with the average being63. The38patients were divided into two groups:the first groups consisted of14patients aged less than60years, and the other of24patients aged older than60years. Clinical evaluation of arthroplasty has been madeby referring to the scoring systems of American Hospital for Special Surgery(HSS).Compare the scores of knee HSS, pain and function, range of motion (ROM)before and after the arthroplasty. Radiographic Evaluation of arthroplasty has beenmade on the femoral tibial angles (FTA),Observed the limb alignment, position ofthe prosthesis, radiation through the light around femoral and tibial components inorder to find signs of prosthesis loosening. Patient satisfaction rate and thecomplications were evaluated. The data were analyzed with SPSS19.0software.Results:The38cases (45knees) were followed up for an average of29months(ranged,8~54months).All incisions healed at one-stage and no one case of deep veinthrombosis, dislocation and other complications. One infection was cured by takingsome relative treatment. No one case of flexion deformity was occurred. Patients’satisfactory rate was94.7%.1.Clinical Evaluation:The scores of HSS, pain and function increased respectivelyfrom (48.86±12.16) points,(13.42±5.58) points and (9.93±5.14) points preoperativelyto (86.89±9.07) points,(25.22±4.26) points and (19.47±2.85) points (P<0.05) atthe final followed-up. The excellent and good rate of knee HSS scores was95.6%.Therange of motion (ROM) of the knee improved from (94.73±23.11) oto (121.89±15.82)o(P <0.05). Comparing middle-aged groups with old-aged groups, there were differences in the preoperative and postoperative HSS, function score and the ROM(P <0.05),and the postoperative pain score were no significant difference(P>0.05).2.Radiographic Evaluation:The angles and limb alignment were measured on thefull-length standing X-Ray film of the lower extremity. Femoro tibial angle (FTA)was corrected from (182.07±11.34) o to (175.28±1.50) o.(P <0.05)Comparingmiddle-aged groups with old-aged groups, the FTA angle was no significantdifference(p>0.05). The limb alignment was normal. No evidence of periprostheticosteolysis, translucent lines and loosening on the postoperative X-ray film. Conclusions:The Rotating-Platform total knee replacement which used in thetreatment of patients has a good effect as a whole, which can significantly improvethe life quality and the function of knee joint, ease the pain effectively. Short termfollow-up shows good clinical results especially in young and active patients butremote effect still needs further follow up studies....
