Objective:Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional disorder characterized byrecurrent abdominal pain and altered bowel habits, along with a constellation ofother symptoms such as diarrhea, constipation, and relief of abdominal pain withdefecation. The population of IBS has been known to increase annually.Furthermore, IBS affects the quality of daily life of all groups and is seen to bemore common in females. However, the option of treatment for IBS is still limited. Many new academic reports have suggested that probiotics can relieve ofabdominal pain, bloating and improve the consist of gut microflora. But reportsabout fungi for the treatment of IBS are still limited. So this research has beenadopted to observe the curative effect and safety of Saccharomyces boulardii(Bloflor) for the treatment of IBS-D.Methods:1. Collecting80patients correspond to Rome Ⅲstandard from the AffiliatedHospital of Yan’an University. Separate them into test group and control grouprandomly. Saccharomyces boulardii is given to the patients of test group,500mg bid.Glutamine is given to the others,600mg tid.Period of treatment is4weeks.2. The data around the treatment are expressed as X±s and analyzed withSPSS11.5software.When the result is P<0.05,we consider the difference betweentwo groups to have statistics meaning. Reslts:After the treatment, both of groups’ GSRS are much lower than before, andtest group’s GSRS is lower than control group’s. The difference which between twogroups is significant. The efficiency of test group is superior to controlgroup(P=0.025).Both of them don’t generate adverse effects. Conclusion:Both Saccharomyces boulardii and glutamine are effective against IBS-D. Thecurative effect of Saccharomyces boulardii is superior to glutamine for thetreatment of IBS-D.
