To provide reference to the seasonal aspect landscape construction, the resources andornamental characteristics of autumn colorful plants were surveyed and their ornamentalvalues were evaluated. The phenological periods of138autumn colorful plants whichbelonging to92genera,47families in Xi’an were monitored and mapped by Gantt chartaction of Office Project. According to Expert Consulting and Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) Method, we established the evaluation index systems of comprehensive and autumnornamental value to assess their ornamental values. Furthermore, the138autumn colorfulplants were classified into4grades based on the assessments. The results were as follows:1. The phenological mapping is a method showing plant phonological period intuitively.The phenological mapping of138autumn colorful plants in Xi’an would promote the studyand application of the locality landscape plants.2. Based on the ornamental value comprehensive evaluation index system, the138autumn colorful plants were classified into4grades:21plants with high ornamental value,48plants with higher ornamental value,49plants with lower ornamental value,20plants withlow ornamental value.3. Based on the autumn ornamental value evaluation index system, the138autumncolorful plants were classified into4grades:20plants with high ornamental value,59plantswith higher ornamental value,34plants with lower ornamental value,25plants with lowornamental value.4. The autumn colorful plants in Xi’an are rich in resources, but only about one third ofthem were used in landscape. So we suggest more landscape application of the resources infuture to beautify the environment and benefit people in Xi’an.
