| This test had studied the changes of the chlorophyll the chloroplast vigor, the chlorophyll fluorescence parameters and the different content of the chloroplast ultra structure based on the two grafted colorful ornamental plant species Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum, Berberis thunbergii var. atropurpurea which were frequently used in Chinese Garden, aiming at finding out the photosynthetic characteristics of the two colorful ornamental plants. The results indicated that:(1) The pigment content in the leaf and the various changes in the relative content of pigment was lead to the direct cause of leaf color, and the leaf pigments which caused the change of the leaf clour was changing with the temperature and light conditions. It could be changed throngh to changes in leaf color pigment to protect the leaf tissue in the bright light to maintain photosynthetic balance of the two clourful ornamental plants. Chlorophyll a/b ratio of the two colorful ornamental plants was general different with the green plants, this may be unique to colurful plant.(2) The chloroplast vigor (Hill activity) of the two grafted colorful ornamental plant changed significantly with the seasons and the value were strongest in spring. The chloroplast vigor of Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum was stonger than the value of Berberis thunbergii var. atropurpurea.(3) The Photochemical efficiency of PS II in light of the two colorful ornamental plants were stable, so the photoinhibition did not occur in different seasons. The chlorophyll fluorescence of the two colorful ornamental plants were higher in summer than it in the other seasons because of the stronger light in summer. The two colorful ornamental plants could achieve the self-protect of photosynthetic structures by heating dissipation (qN value increase). The annual average chlorophyll fluorescence of Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum was higher than Berberis thunbergii var. atropurpurea,so the photosynthetic capacity was stronger than Berberis thunbergii var. atropurpurea.(4) Compared with Loropetalum. chinens, the chloroplast of Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum leaves was smaller in size and increases in number. The stroma lamellas became loose as well. There were more osmiophilic globules, assimilation starch granules and starch granules which occupy half of the chloroplast; compared with Berberis thunbergii, the stroma lamellas of Berberis thunbergii var. atropurpurea were thin and became loose. There were more osmiophilic globules, assimilation starch granules and starch granules of Berberis thunbergii var. atropurpurea. |
