Diameter is the key factor of tree’s character. Stand volume、biomass、growth sictuation’assessment and measurement are almost based on diameter(DBH, diameter at breastheight).Therefore,the measurement of tree’s DBH is important in forest resource surveilance andrelative practice.However, DBH’s measuring method hasn’t changed much for many years.Diameter tape is used to measure in each wooden foot of forest inventory. This traditional methodnot only wastes time、manpower and it is inefficient, but it needs long time to acquire data and itcan’t provide relatively high time-resolution forest dynamic information for scientific research andforest resource inventory. A drawware sensor based low-power tree diameter growing recorderwhich is based on MCU is designed.This recorder is made up of MCU、clock module、CH376module、sensor and power. MCUuses MSP430F149as processor. MCU contains flash which can store data and make recordersleep、measure in corresponding time. Timing module is mainly consisted of DS1302, whichprovides time.CH376is used to read and write data from CH376, and it can transport data to USBflash disk. Moreover, data transmission can be realized by JTAG port.JTAG port test and controlinternal nodal points by using specialized JTAG testing tool. Except for downloading programsand debug programs, JTAG can transmit data to IAR. Then copy data in IAR to decode software,and the data is transferred to ordered data. This recorder’s size is small and its principle is easy. Itis convenient to operate and it can automatically measure trees’ diameter and circumferencesuccessively, and growth can be obtained too. This recorder is powered up by battery, it can workfor more two years in the field. Its simple rate can be adjusted, which can be set for measuringevery hour、every day or every week.
