Soil moisture is considered an important physical properties of soil physical indicators, based on the needs of different areas, soil moisture studies showing multi-scale feature, that is, from the large regional scale to the middle of the basin scale and to small-scale farms have great demand. There are many ways of measuring soil water content at present, these methods have their own strengths, measurement for the middle scale are relatively empty, GPR technology in terms of measuring soil moisture has made some progress. The method of measurement for the middle scale is more suitable and more potential than the other methods.GPR to measure soil moisture, based on dielectric properties of the soil for the physical basis. In the past studies on the dielectric properties of the soil, especially the water content of soil dielectric model, are mostly in the high frequency band above 1GHz. In different frequency range, the dielectric property of soil is a big difference. Therefore, dielectric properties of soil in the frequency band of GPR from 10MHz to 1GHz need further study. This paper take Study of application of low-frequency microwave band GPR to measure soil moisture content as the title, suing two particular medium soil and sand to establish two different models of the relationship between GPR velocity and two different media moisture content by a series of test of physical soil model. The established models provide the basis for GPR to measure soil moisture content, and are also a complement to previous studies. Through the verification experiment, verify the accuracy and reliability of the models. Based on the relationship of the models, this study also proposed the calculation of soil moisture content by GPR reflected wave method that use artificial pre-reflector.
