Toxoplasma gondii is a multi-host parasite, people, livestock,poultry, and many wild animals are susceptible to Toxoplasma gondii. Toxoplasmosiscan occur throughout the year, oocysts require a certain temperature and humidityconditions to mature with infectious, and so it usually appears in the hot and humidseason. The prevalence of piglets′viral diarrhea disease is on the up trend in recentyears, and its epidemic regularity has great changes. The disease often occurs in thewinter or spring before, but in recent years, it becomes to be one of the epidemicdiseases in summer. A large-scale farm which is leading the breeding scale and farmingconditions was selected in the domestic, to investigate the composite prevention andcontrol measures of heat stress, the toxoplasmosis and piglets′viral diarrhea in summer.The major contents include:1. In summer, the measures were investigated to relieve heat stress in thebreeding and gestation house in a large-scale farmFrom June to September, reproductive performance indexs and immune antibodyqualified rate of classical swine fever were added up in breeding houses. The resultsshowed that the group which air blower installed in the gables is better than the airblower installed in vertical wall group. This survey indicated that the cooling effect ofthe pigsty where air blower installed in the gable was even better.From June to September, statistics reproductive performance indexs and immuneantibody qualified rate of foot and mouth disease type O were counted in gestationhouses. The results showed that the group which wetted pad was intermittentlyoperational was better than the wetted pad kept continuous operation group. In conclusion, the wetted pad was by means of intermittent operation and discontinuationafter excessive humidity to enhance the cooling effect.2. In summer, the measures were investigated to prevent and control thetoxoplasmosis in the fattening house in a large-scale farmBecause of the outbreaks of toxoplasmosis, preliminary estimate of economiclosses was￥121843.7of the874pigs in the fattening farms. From Jane to August,after take three kinds of prevention and control measures, the Toxoplasma gondiiseroprevalence was added up for each group. The results showed that compared withthe control group, the rate of infection of Toxoplasma gondii was significantly reducedby timely and reasonable drinking the sulfaclozine or replace the pellets feed. Whiletaking these two kinds of measures, the rate of infection could be effectively reduced.It may be preferred as prevention and control methods.3. In summer, the measures were investigated to prevent and control the piglets′viral diarrhea in the delivery house in a large-scale farmFrom May to July, the production performance indexs of two units were countedin the delivery house. The results indicated that compared with the control group, thedeath and elimination rate of the unit taken the empty pigsty and disinfection measuresis significantly reduced, a highly significant difference was found between these twogroups. This disease has been effectively controlled in the end. These data suggest thatthe empty pigsty and disinfection measures were critical to control the diarrheaeffectively.
