China is one of the country which has the biggest potato planting area in the world, but its potato harvesting mechanization level is extremely low. In recent years, the development and application of potato harvester develope well, but most of the models are small-and medium-scale excavator, which need manual collecting and grading, therefor, the productivity is low, the labor intensity is high. the low mechanization severely restricts the further development of potato industry. To this end, a kind of4UFD-1400potato combine harvester with a grading device was developed. This machine can finish potato piece of excavation, soi-potato and potato-seedling separation, potato grading, bagging integration operation, as a result, the labor intensity and time,commodity potato processing are all reduced, and the productivity is highly improvedAccording to the work function and technical requirements of the potato combine harvester, the virtual prototype modeluse was established by3D modeling software Pro/E. To solve the problems existing in the design of4UFD-1400, the lifting system innovation design was carried out, the main work:before the potato get into the bagging system, the conveying way changed from the originally horizontal transmission and lateral elevator to vertical lifting form basing on belt or chain scraper, which reduced the machine size, weight and minimized potato damage. In addition, the stress analysis and strength check of the main components were done, and using ANSYS,forced state of the lifting device scraper and drive shaft were analyzed, at the same time, ADAMS was used to analyze the harvester’s vertical lifting device movement at working speed of4.86km/h. The results of analysis calculation and prototype test show that the principle and structure design of the vertical lifting device are reasonable, which has a high transmission efficiency and good performance, and the work is safe and reliable.
