Canine and feline dermatophytosis is a zoonosis that can be seen in animal hospitalfrequently. It has a seriously effect on the animal health as well as human beings together. Inorder to understand the pathogenetic regularity, diagnostic method, diagnosing and treatmentof canine and feline dermatophytosis, this study investigated the canine and felinedermatophytosis cases, and selected the therapeutic regimen for controlling the incidence offungal skin diseases in dogs and cats.During January2012to December2012,758clinical cases of skin diseases in dogs andcats from pet hospital were investigated and analyzed, which involved the morbidity, onsetseasons, ages, breeds, and sexual distinction. The results showed that the number ofdermatophytosis was387, accounted for51.06%in clinical cases; the onset seasons were June,July and August; long-haired canine and feline such as Poodle, Golden Retriever, Samoyed, and Garfield were more susceptible; the ages of onset mainly within4years old, especiallythe puppy and kitten in their first year, which had the highest morbididity, up to52.71%.234positive cases of canine and feline dermatophytosis were diagnozed through clinicaland laboratory examination. In129canine positive cases, detection rates of Wood lampexamination and microscopic text were72.87%and83.81%, respectively. While in105felinepositive cases, detection rates of Wood lamp examination and microscopic text were62.79%and83.81%, respectively. The dogs and cats, which were confirmed as dermatophytosis, were treated with Oridermyl,Otomax, Pitefen, Shufu, FungiSpray-50, Itraconazole Injection, Compound TerbinafineHydrochloride Tablets and Compound vitamin B. The results indicated that the efficiencies ofOridermyl and Otomax aganist otitis externa mycosis were93.75%and92.31%, respectively. The consequence of treatment to local and systemic dermatomycosis showed that theefficiencies of Pitefen, Shufu, and FungiSpray-50were63.63%,55.56%, and85.71%,respectively; the efficiency of the combination of Itraconazole Injection, Compound vitaminB injection together with FungiSpray-50was89.28%; while the efficiency of the combinationof Compound Terbinafine Hydrochloride Tablets, Vitamin B complex oral administration andFungiSpray-50with Pyoderm shampoo was93.55%; the efficiency of the combination ofCompound Terbinafine Hydrochloride Tablets, Vitamin B complex oral administration andFungiSpray-50with Pyoderm shampoo was92.86%.The topical administration of drugs was more appropriate for treatment of fungalinfection in external auditory canal and small local areas. For systemic cases and chronic largearea infested cases, the generalized treatment, supplemented topical medication andcooperation with the anti-fungal shampoo was the most effective. The antifugal agentscontaining terbinafine or itraconazole can be recommended in clinical treatment.
