Five-color-grass is the joint name of five plants,which include Alternanthera bettzickianaRubigiznosa、Sedum lineare Thunb、Alternanthcra amoena.Voss、Alternanthera amoena Nichols andAlternanthera bettzickiana Nichols. Five-color-grass mosaiculture has become an important element of thenorth landscape, being widely used in urban street, square, park and green land. Urumqi began to makethree-dimensional contouring with Five-color-grass a from2006and promoted it to large scale applicationin recent years. The research focus on the existing problems in the production and application of XinjiangFive-color-grass mosaiculture, with6years of continuous survey for its application status, system researchof Five-color-grass breeding technology, research on its main pests and diseases and summary ofFive-color-grass mosaiculture producing methods, in order to provide technology support and reference forfurther promotion and application. The main research results are as following:(1)The experiments and research of Five-color-grass a cutting propagation under the conditionswith different matrix, cutting length, temperature achieve the result that: the optimum temperature forcutting propagation is15℃-20℃, cutting length is5cm and cottage matrix should be made up with50%pearlite,30%garden soil, and20%leaf mould. It will take root in5-7days after cuttage. Remove thesunshade net after the cutting entering normal growth and put it under sunny conditions.(2)Another research is about the main pests and diseases species and pests appearing rules ofAlternanthera. The experiments are operated under the conditions in greenhouse and outdoor square,discovering and identifying3diseases and3pests which often occur. The main diseases are powderymildew, leaf spot and root rot and the main pests are aphids, starscream and white lice. Pests occur moreoften inside greenhouse, compared with outdoor conditions; the pests and diseases species and appearingdegree are different among different Five-color-grass: Alternanthera bettzickiana Rubigiznosa、Alternanthcra amoena Voss、Alternanthera bettzickiana Nichols and Alternanthera amoena Nichols aremore or less, root rot only occurs on Sedum lineare Thunb. The most serious diseases for Five-color-grassare aphids and leaf spot.(3) The research summarizes the design, production and later maintenance methods ofFive-color-grass mosaiculture. Five-color-grass is the common material for mosaiculture. Five-color-grassmosaiculture usually includes two styles: single type and combined type. The advantages of the first typeare unique modeling and striking colors. However, combined type has wider view and abundant artisticeffects. The mosaicultures in Urumqi are usually bearing flowerbed, carpet flowerbed, mosaiculture orother abundant applications. For plants selection, they usually choose low, tiny, colorful Five-color-grass,which is also easy to maintain and manage. There are various Five-color-grass t mosaiculture coutouringsall over the country, but they are usually irregular. This article are the5years research results ofFive-color-grass mosaiculture production methods, including the patent of Five-color-grass meshestechnology invented by the author.
