Studies On The Cultivar Classification And System Construction Of Wintersweet

Wintersweet(Chimonanthus praecox (L.)Link) is endemic to China fragrant-plant, whoseflowering season is mainly concentrated in winter. The Wintersweet varieties of Henan Province,which is first-class and typical in China and even in the world, are rich and high ornamentalvalue. In this paper, through making a comprehensive and systematic research on the resources ofHenan Wintersweet varieties and conducting a census in Nanjing and Hefei, the author gets abasically understanding of the present situation of Wintersweet germplasm resources. Combinedwith field research, this article builds the Wintersweet varieties classification system andconducts a relative study for Wintersweet applications.1. Through systematic classification of wintersweet cultivar resources,146cultivars arerecorded in detail, including33new cultivars and correcting7the literature errors.35Wintersweet varieties of ornamental value are elected.2. According to the trait differences between the varieties, we propose to divide theWintersweet cultivar into three groups with red flush of inner tepals as standard, i.e.Chimonanthus praecox Concolor Group,Chimonanthus praecox IntermediusGroup,Chimonanthus praecox Patens Group.3. This paper proposes the red flush of inner tepals as the first-standard and the color ofmiddle tepals as the second-standard for the cultivar classification.4. This paper gives three different proposals for the cultivar classification system ofWintersweet. Combined with the actual research, the third classification system is more scientific,accurate and precise.5. According to the trait differences and the standard of classification among the varieties,this article builds the Wintersweet varieties classification system for the first time and establishesthe the key to cultivars of wintersweet classification.6. This paper proposes the concept of ’La Weibian’ for the first time. Combined withresearch, this paper has a study on the production and application research of wintersweet. Thepaper discusses the problems of wintersweet application and proposes some relative advice.
