Primary Study On The Cultivar Resource And Classification Sweet Osmanthus In Hunan Province

China is the geographic distribution center of Osmanthus fragrans and has its long cultivation and application. Osmanthus fragrans is not only one of ten-traditional flowers in China, but also the second plant that gains the International Cultivar Registration Authority. With the application and acquisition to International Cultivar Registration Authority (ICRA) of Osmanthus fragrans cultivars,most of provinces and cities strengthen Osmanthus fragrans's research, but as one of the producing areas, Hunan province haven't done it in this respect.In Hunan province Osmanthus fragrans has wide distribution, lots of cultivars resources, and especially there is still remain a relatively rare and large areas of wild Osmanthus community.After a wide range of investigations and studies in Hunan province, it gives the systemic identification and classification of Osmanthus fragrans in this paper. Hope for providing a theoretical basis to exploit the resources of Osmanthus fragrans in Hunan province.The main and preliminary results are as follows:1. After the preliminary investigation the survey showed that 57 cultivars are classified:6 in Siji Group; 30 in Albus Group; 11 in Luteus Group and 10 in Aurantiacus Group, which 52 cultivars had been recorded and 5 cultivars are new.2. Jiemuxi Nature Reservation has large areas of wild Osmanthus community, and the survey found that most of ovary develop well; pedicels are longer than 12 mm; flowers and buds are more.In which there is a wild species of Osmanthus, the pedicel is bending and rather special.3. Given some rather big and fragrant flowers of Osmanthus to promote in Hunan Province.
