Under the background of basic education reform in the new period, the school education presents the new changes, in particular about the teaching of the systemic and efficiency at the same time, put forward the cultivation of students’ individuality and creativity. In the new era, the middle school is more diversified and open, so to speak. Space is the material carrier of teaching activities, teaching space quality directly influences the quality of teaching activities, only to adapt to education development trend of the teaching space can produce time needed talents. Facing the new situation in the new period, the traditional middle school teaching space of the optimization design has been exploring.Middle school teaching space optimization design aims to make comprehensive building space to meet the needs of education concept, course system and the individual, and further more, can inspire constructive teaching activities. On this basis, this paper will make the basic pattern and middle school teaching space combination relations as the research object, to China’s specific national conditions, combined with excellent examples at home and abroad, and the pedagogy, environmental psychology and behavioral science theory, this paper made a comprehensive interpretation of middle school teaching space form, that can adapt to basic education development trend in the new period. In specific research process, first of all, this paper reserched the historical background and national policies, by the method of comparative study, to discusses the main characteristic of middle school teaching space in the new period. On the basis of the above results, this paper studyed the typical cases. The sample survey to to three levels, as teaching buildings, public space and the teaching unit, to found the current problems in middle school teaching space. Then, combined with excellent examples at home and abroad, this paper puts forward general design strategy for China’s national conditions. General design strategy, that can be applied to general optimization design of middle school teaching space, has the macroscopic guidance significance. Finally combining with Beijing YuYing middle school reconstruction project, that is a practical engineering experience, discussed the issuesof more targeted, such as design process, deal with and general technique.This paper build the multi-level and multiple points of view, system optimization design system of the middle school teaching space, by the way of the macroscopic to microcosmic frame, theory combining with practice, policy research combining with architectural design, on the basis of above, this paper disscused the spatial patterns of the middle school teaching space, that can adapt to the situation of middle school.
