With the rapid development of economic society, State Grid Company intensify efforts to further promote the smart grid construction process, more and more intelligent substation is under construction, alteration and operation. Of intelligent equipment configuration and the integrated application of new technology in the intelligent substation, make intelligent substation process also has entered the phase of the all-round. As a core component of strong smart grid based support intelligent substation of power, and its operation safety stability is the precondition for the reliable safe operation of the power grid, and intelligent level of substation is the only way to realize intelligent automation of power grid. Due to the intelligent substation and there are many differences between traditional substation on the function structure, and substation equipment also change in the function principle, thus the operation of the traditional substation maintenance mode can not meet the requirements of intelligent substation, should be combined with the characteristics of intelligent substation developed corresponding operation maintenance mode. The construction of intelligent substation operation is still in its primary stage, so the intelligent substation operation maintenance mode is still in exploring further. According to the State Grid Company’s "Three sets of five" system construction "large operation" in the process of system construction requirements, adapt to the current situation of the development of intelligent substation power network operational mode also needs to be studied further.This paper combining intelligent substation110kV Dishui in Rizhao pilot project in construction, summed up in the course of a detailed analysis of the intelligent substation "three layers of two nets" function architecture, intelligent equipment characteristics, technical features and equipment in the process of operation maintenance considerations and defects. In intelligent substation in the daily maintenance and management work, the key problems in combining with the characteristics of its structure and function, the research of intelligent substation operation maintenance mode is put forward.
