With development of the times and the strategy of developing the country by science and education putting into effect, our university education is undergoing a rapid development which never happened before. There comes a construction boom in campus. On the same time, there is a shortage of resources and available land, and, in the field of science, there is a cross-desciplinary phenomenon. On such a background, research and lab buildings as the important carrier of scientific research, are taking on new trends. In this article, I’m going to studying the clustering of scientific experimental buildings which is one of the new trends.First of all, based on amounts of data and cases, the positive significance of clustering is affirmed. In this article, the writer studies the process of clustering and summarizes the key design points. As a thing always experiences a process from early stage to maturity, now there are some questions in the clustering of scientific experimental buildings in the early stage. On the basis of studying lots of cases and looking into the status of clustering design, the writer put forward strategies to tackle the problems. As we all know, practice is the sole criterion for testing truth. In the last part of the article, a design example of scientific research groups in Tsinghua University is presented to verify the theory of clustering.
