Study On Operation Capability Improvement Of Terminal Storage Yard In DL Corporation

East of the port of Lianyungang Port Joint Stock Company, Ltd.(called DL Corporation for short), is a multi-functional and comprehensive Ports Corporation mainly engaged in bulk cargo and general cargo. In recent years, with a substantial increase in domestic and foreign trade and a significant increase in throughput of the port, East Union in production operations has been facing the inadequate storage capacity which affects cargo loading and unloading conditions. Therefore, in order to promote East Union’s sustainable development in loading and unloading cargo as well as to satisfy the requirements in building international economy, this paper lays emphasis on studying East Union’s Pier library field capacity building and analyzes its structure. According to the study done in the paper, through certain planning and optimization, the operation capability of terminal storage yard can be improved effectively.Based on the references related, the basic information about the operation capability of terminal storage yard in DL Corporation is introduced from the aspects of berth, yard distribution, cargo throughput and operating income. Meanwhile, with the help of analyzing the procedure of yard operation, especially in storage capacity, handling capacity and scheduling transport capacity, this paper offers a better analysis on throughout forecasting model and main commodity market. As is revealed in the analysis, the problems are made up of the insufficient storage area, the limitation of the train delivery capacity, the conflict between space operation and ship operation, the low utilization rate of storage yard and unreasonable functional areas. In order to solve these problems, some effective measures are put forward in this paper, such as planning the storage area properly, expanding the yard three-dimensional space, increasing the intensity of transportation, adjusting functional partition and reasonable stacking storage ability. In addition, some efficient measures are involved in improving the ability of train loading and unloading and the handling capacity in mechanical labor input. Finally, setting up special areas for vehicle, establishing the responsibility system of transporting goods, reasonable planning function area and scheduling appropriately according to the cargo flow are also significant and necessary. In conclusion, the yard operation measures to improve the capacity of terminal storage yard can offer some practical and worthy suggestions to other similar port handling companies.
