Distribution Static Synchronous is referred to as "DSTATCOM, because it has a characteristic on two-way fast dynamic compensating reactive power. In recent years it has gradually become a hot research topic in the field of power system reactive power compensation.This article mainly introduced the four compensation mode of DSTATCOM, calculating compensation capacity, the mathematical model of DSTATCOM and The composition of control system. Through comparison, pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of DSTATCOM and classic reactive power compensation device. Through the comparison of four distribution system commonly used kinds of reactive compensation mode, eventually adopted low-voltage centralized compensation way. At the same time, calculate of the compensation capacity of DSTATCOM on the basis of this way of compensation. This paper expounds the control theory of DSTATCOM its main circuit is three-phase voltage bridge inverter. Based on the switching function method, it establishes the mathematical model of DSTATCOM.This paper mainly studies the method of reactive current detection and control strategy on DSTATCOM. By improving the traditional d-q method of reactive current detection, it establishes modified d-q test methods based on the theory of instantaneous reactive power. At the same time, based on the indirect current control, it establish the double ring and variable control method of based on d-q transformation and PI control. The use of Simulink(dynamic simulation platform of Matlab), with DSTATCOM10/0.4KV distribution network as an example, the whole simulation test system model is established. It researches the compensation effect in three different operation condition. The simulation results show that by the control strategy of DSTATCOM Established can effectively compensate reactive power, as well as improve the power quality.
