Immediate reactive power compensation is a powerful means of optimizing power flow of transmission networks as well as enhancing power quality . At present , DSTATCOM has represented development direction of reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression of distribution network.This thesis revolves design and application of the direct electric current control DSTATCOM.The circuit diagram and work principle as well as its applications are introduced in detail in this paper. Two control strategies of DSTATCOM are discussed which includes direct current control and indirect current control.The regulative quality and dynamic quality of DSTATCOM are analyzed from the waveforms of some electric variables.Simulations of two control strategies are run by SIMULINK. The harmonic elimination technologies of DSTATCOM are discussed,which can be achieved by improving circuit configuration and optimizing pulses generating modes. SVPWM modulation mode with which the DC voltage utilization ratio is high, the switch wastage is small and the harmonic content is low. SVPWM is adopted in producing the pulse wave.Especially in the asymmetric voltage system, DSTATCOM's compensation can still meet the load requirements.
