Network control system is the key technology of high-speed train. At present, the high-speed train industry develops rapidly over the world. Demands on network performance are also getting higher. The development trend of train network is the implamentations of big data network services. While the traditional train networks are difficult to meet future demand. Industrial ethernet has advantages of high transmission rate, good compatibility, widely usage and low cost. The International Electrotechnical Commission has issued the IEC61375-2-5draft standard in2010. IEC61375-2-5defines ETB(Ethernet Train Backbone) which provides an executable standard for the application of ethernet technology in train network field.This paper is dependent on the branch project (high-speed train network control system project) of national science and technology support program. The main contents in the paper are as follows:(1) Train network simulation platform based on IEC61375-2-5is putted up with NetFPGAs which are used as network communication hardwares. The vehicle simulation nodes are composed of computers and NetFPGAs.(2) The network communication software is programmed under Linux Fedora OS. This software is composed of four parts which are network initialization module, router management module, routing protocol module and TTDP (train topology discovery protocol) module. And vehicle equipments data are classified while their priorities are defined.(3) The mechanism of train network redundancy switching is deeply studied. The train network failure monitoring and redundancy switch software is programmed on this simulation platform.(4) An algorithm based on MAC address is designed and programmed to implement the automatic formation technology.(5) The function and performance of simulation platform as well as its redundancy switch and automatic formation technology has been tested.The simulation and test results show that certain parts of IEC61375-2-5has been successfully implemented on the train network simulation platform. And this platform has very good network communication performance. The redundant network can be switched when the failure appears in the main network. Train automatic formation will be implemented during the network initialization. So the new marshalling of the train won’t affect the regular network operation. The research shows that ethernet train backbone has more advantages than those traditional train networks. It provides the possibility for more advanced network services under the premise of train control functioning well. Therefore, the ethernet train backbone will be the developing trend in train network field.
