The development of radio astronomy and the deep-space exploration results in the higherrequirement of the aperture, sensitivity and pointing accuracy of giant radio telescope. Whenapplying the wheel-rail structure into the rotation part of the giant radio telescope, discussingthe pointing error which is influenced by wheel-rail accuracy and the erosion of track ofwheel-rail has been an issue that needs to be addressed immediately.This paper researches on the wheel-rail system of National astronomical observatory50m radio telescope, introduces3D non-Hertz rolling contact theory, establishes the rollingcontact system model of radio telescope wheel-rail. From the numerical calculationperspective, this paper analyzes the geometric deformation in the rolling contact as well as therolling contact slip. Through the analysis of3D non-Hertz rolling contact theory, it providesthe theoretical support for the simulation model and experimental test.Second, according to the theory model, this paper establishes the3D contact model ofthe wheel-rail of50m radio telescope, simulates the contact stress and deformation in thecontacting area, analyzes the structure of the wheel-rail of the radio telescope, especially theinfluence which results from geometric deformation on the rail junction, talks about theinfluence from exterior factors including juncture angle of wheel-rail and temperature on themechanics property of wheel-rail.Finally, this paper makes investigation on the rolling contact fatigue abrasion status of50m radio telescope and obtains the data of wheel-rail abrasion. This paper measures the railhorizontal error and load deformation of the50m radio telescope, examines the theory and theresults of the simulation model. According to the measured data, this paper analyzes thereasons of crack among wheel-rails, presents the maintenance plan of the wheel-rail,maintains and adjusts the50m telescope, remeasures the parameters such as rail horizontalerror, evaluates the maintenance effectiveness. Considering the pointing accuracy that resultsfrom wheel-rail, this paper establishes the pointing calibration model of the radio telescope,making pointing calibration experiment in the global through50m radio telescope and thenverifies the calibrated pointing accuracy.The established3D wheel-rail rolling contact model and measurement solution in thispaper are beneficial to the research of the wheel-rail of giant radio telescope, provides somereference and guidance for the reduction of the pointing accuracy which results from wheel-rail issues and structure design and operating maintenance of the giant wheel-rail radiotelescope.
