As a heat transfer device, oil cooler has been widely used in the industry of electric power, petroleum and chemical metallurgy, etc. It’s an important part to the industrial production, therefore,we shoud take further experiments and theory study to improve the thermal efficiency and reducepower consumption through optimizing design, which will make significant contribution to ourcountry’s energy conservation and environmental protection.A set of oil cooler performance testing system was developed according to the existingnational standards and industry standards. The system can comprehensively test variousperformance indicators of the oil cooler, with the characteristics of high degree of automation, operability, repeatability and stability etc. In addition, combined with the remote monitoringtechnology, the system achieved the purpose of long-distance monitoring and control, which makesthe operator test more easily. In order to study the oil cooler more deeply, a numerical simulation onthe oil cooler has been carried out with CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software, which hasrealized the combination of experiments and theoretical knowledge. The main contents of this paper are shown as follows:(1) The current development situation of the oil cooler test system is introduced from energyconservation and emissions reduction point of view is described and the research significance isindicated. The main work is determined from the aspects of the detecting technology development, the remote monitoring system development and the CFD numerical simulation.(2) The performance parameters of the oil cooler test board are proposed according to therelevant standards. In order to facilitate the test, a set of computer test and control software has beendeveloped based on the.NET platform. The research focuses on the automation andintellectualization of the software to improve the quality of software interface and highlight thecharacteristics of virtual instrument and dynamic process.(3) Installation and debugging of the system which mainly include the preparation beforesystem debugging, the hardware debugging and software debugging are discussed. Different controlstrategies are adopted in different system link, making the system control more reasonable andrunning more smoothly.(4) Overall design and performance requirements of the remote monitoring system areconfirmed with proper network communication mode being chosen and network session processbeing designed, and each function of the remote monitoring system is implemented by the program. In order to ensure the safety of the communication between the server and the client, the data ofnetwork transmission is encrypted.(5) Oil cooler model is established and simplified on the premise of conforming to the actualsituation as far as possible, which can be used to analyze the flow field, temperature field and stressfield with the software of Gambit and Fluent.(6) The whole work is summarized and the further improvement and perfection of the systemis prospected.
