After stroke, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury, patients often occurmotor dysfunction and other sequelae, which will affect the patients’ health andquality of life for a long time. Functional electrical stimulation is one of the methodsused for the treatment of patients with movement disfunction and other diseases,which can effectively prevent muscle atrophy, and promote the recovery of motorfunction. It has an important significance for relieving patients’ pain, and helps toreduce the burden on the family.This paper focuses on the related performance requirements of functionalelectrical stimulation system, combined with analysis and research of present researchstatus and development trend at home and abroad, and brings forward the design offunctional electrical stimulation based on EMG feedback. The system is mainlycomposed of two parts, which are hardware and software. The main research work isas follows:1. According to the basic principles and the current development status at homeand abroad of functional electrical stimulation system, the design parameters aredetermined, which lay the foundation for the system design.2. On the basis of stimulation parameters, general design scheme of hardwarecircuit is confirmed. Then we design the schematic diagram including control unit,communication mode, power management, waveform generation and constant currentsource. Finally, the hardware circuit above is verified both by simulation andexperiment.3. For the requirements of schematic design and function, the DAC, ADC, serialcommunication, key operations and other modules are designed. 4. Based on LabVIEW software platform, we design a control interface to satisfythe requirements of parameter settings, feature extraction of feedback signals and datatransmission. Finally, the feedback control based on EMG signal is done.5. Summarized all the paper content, then make an initial probe into the existingproblems and put forward the aspects of the system to be improved in the future, suchas control strategy optimization, EMG signal acquisition and real-time datainformation.
