Firearms are one of the conventional weapons which are widely used in the world, andabout8million firearms are made in the world each year in total. Therefore, the qualitydetection of firearms plays an extremely significant role in national security of each country.Many defects may occur inside the firearms during the process of the manufacture or use ofthe firearms, and the defects inside the firearms will seriously affect the quality and workinglife of firearms. However, in our county, most of the defects inside firearms depend on theway of the combination of endoscope or handwork, which owns poor accuracy and has noability to pinpoint the location of the defects inside firearms accurately. Therefore, a newstudy about detection system of the defects inside firearms has important influence, whichholds higher accuracy and can locate accurately.The paper studies the Detection System of the defects inside the firearms based onMATLAB on the basis of the traditional detection system of the defects inside firearms. Thisnew system includes the location of the defects inside firearms, area measurement and imagecalibration of the defects, which designed from the aspects of hardware and softwareseparately. Firstly, mature endoscopic detective technology is used, and a speculum will beadded in the lens device a mirror, which tends to reflect the situation of the defects insidefirearms directly. Additionally, a reliable mechanical structure is designed to fix and regulatethe endoscopic instruments. Subsequently, a common lathe jaw structure is used in theadjustment and fix of the barrel. Meanwhile, the image data will be disposed and analyzed byMALLAB. Consequently, the size and position of the defects inside firearms could beconfirmed, and the image of the inner firearms will be jointed, which are conducive to theoverall analysis of the defects inside firearms. The experimental test and data analysis of the gun, whose diameter is13.7mm, show thatthe system has simple operation and high detection accuracy. Besides, it can detect the defectsof other mechanical products, which owns wide application prospect.
