Expression Of Time Information---Timing Products Design Research

In order to define that technical updates, cognitive development and profound cultural changes have an important influence on timing products’ image, restoring the original appearance of time, trying to get rid of things as a starting point to ponder, exploring new ideas for timing products’design. Firstly, at the technical level, the paper sorts out the evolution of timing products. Depending on the cyclical phenomenon’s different principle, timing products evolution sums up in four stages, and then come to an important clue---pursuit of more and more stable periodic phenomenon. Then, the paper analyzes the development of human understanding of the time, defining that the watershed between natural time and artificial time is the measurement of time, and the emergence of figure have a decisive role in human regarding time as the measured object. After that, the paper analyze the relationship between concept of time and cultural forms, concluding three stages of society---"Interaction between human and astronomical phenomena","The dominance of human on human" and "The dominance of society on human", exploring different concept of time and cultural forms to extend the sources of design concept. Watches represent artificial time, not the real time. The starting point of the timing products’design should escape the original time views. Then, based on the revelation of information theory, from the perspective of time information, the paper analyze the sources of time information, constitution of time information and experience factors of time information. On the basis of arranged timing products, the paper summarizes the law of time information coding. At last, the paper sums up the time information media and perception factors, summarizing the time coding analysis chart, and applying to design and guiding the design concept, providing a reference to the related timing products’design.
