Guangya Academy is in Guangxu fourteen years (in1888) was founded by Zhang Zhidong in Guangzhou’s West Village, facing to Guangdong and Guangxi provinces enrollment, is the Westernization "school for the body, Western learning for use" of the product, is the highest institution of the late Qing Dynasty Lingnan region, the academic and cultural center of Guangdong once from Duanxi academy, Xuehaitang and Jupojingshe moved to Guangya academy, for the development of education in the two provinces have made outstanding contributions. Guangya academy building layout overall on the continuation of the Chinese traditional academy architectural forms, lectures, books, sacrifice our set of three functions in one, will be different sizes, different functions of the building located in the central axis from south to north, forming layers of sequence,on the mountain, water, landscape and cultural heritage. Guangya academy is located in the core area of the Lingnan culture, social system Language critical period of transition special background to promote its cultural heritage on the basis of innovation, leading the Chinese modern education forward. With the change of history development, Guangya always adhere to the school, the education mode from the traditional academy, the transition to the modern international schools, known as the "Chinese modern educational history living witness".In Guangya Academy history and architectural art to explore, study the academy of humanistic spirit and architectural space to create, is to Chinese traditional Academy of culture, architectural thought inheritance, and a rich and accumulation of Lingnan architecture, but also on the modern campus construction planning and design of landscape layout provides experience and reference, considerable research significance, to our deep and effective protection. This topic combined with real data and the related literature, the historical vicissitude of Guangya Academy and art characteristic carries on the analysis and research, mainly focus on the following six parts:the first part of the research, this thesis introduces the research background, research meaning clear, understand the current situation of domestic and foreign research situation, determine the content of research methods and research framework. The second part, analyze the definition, origin and development of Chinese traditional academy, from the formation process of the academies, historical development, function characteristic and construction characteristics and so on to carry on the summary, the overall development status of Guangzhou in Qing Dynasty’s academy in this paper. The third part, starting from the background of Guangya Academy, historical evolution, historical significance, understanding the status and history of Guangya Academy to create,analyze the research significance of Guangya Academy. The fourth part, from Guangya Academy building location, spatial layout, meet the demand of basic functions of architectural form aspects of analysis, the study of Guangya Academy of architecture art form, Guangya academy and traditional academy commonality and its distinctive personality. The fifth part, analysis of the current situation of the use of Guangya Academy, and puts forward the reasonable and effective suggestions to protect, repair, use of elegant. The sixth part is the conclusion.
