Intelligent power grid construction is the latest development trend of thedevelopment and reform of the world’s electricity. As a branch of intelligent power grid,three-dimensional visualization of electricity can show electrical equipments andpower transmission circuit design results more intuitively and vividly. The location andtransmission facilities which linked together can grasp the spatial distribution of thedistribution grid accurately and easily.Since the tower is designed primarily based on past experience and referencedesign specifications, design out of the tower may not be able to meet the real needs ofreal terrain. The traditional solution is to survey the scene, and then correct the designresults depending on the terrain. This cause inefficiency, heavy workload, has a greatinfluence on the construction progress of the transmission tower project. Therefore,parse the power tower data and build three-dimensional models, and show it on thethree-dimensional geographic information system platform which based on real data,can easily verify whether the design results effectively to meet the needs of the actualterrain, greatly improved work efficiency.This paper is based on study the related theory of the transmission tower andresearch on the key technology of rendering3D GIS model to design and develop thesystems function according to the needs of the business sector. Also, three-dimensionalmodel of the transmission tower built in the technical difficulties were highlighted,including the development of the transmission tower data parsing rules and the rendingof transmission tower models.Electricity transmission tower model construction system is a3D visualizationsystem, which was developed on win7system, using the C/S architecture, C#language,DirectX and SlimDX techniques. Electricity transmission tower model constructionsystem achieved the main functions, such as parsing transmission tower data, buildingtransmission tower model, save the output transmission tower model, configuration ofthe legs’ length and assembly of the tower and the tower legs model. Currently, constructing the three-dimensional model of the power tower systemcan parse and construct three types of transmission tower model data, which are TTA,MYL and TTAP. Through test the three types power models, we have know that thesystem can correctly parse the complete three-dimensional model of transmission tower.Also, the system has been used in a number of projects, the feedback effect is good, thedevelopment and realization of the system meet the basic needs of the business. Thestudy can improve the efficiency of transmission tower of the design process, havegood prospects for development and application.
